plastic wrapping tree (forum)

James starts with ...
so my dad has a guiana chestnut tree,
it is getting colder here
and he wants to put plastic over the tree (it has a wooden frame around the tree).
the tree itself is pretty young, its about 1m tall.
so is the idea to cover whole tree in plastic?
from trunk to the top
or do i cut a few 'air' holes?
i think he takes the top layer off during the day, and puts it on during the night.

Hot houses mat be beificial if you keep the water up to eat. But shade cloth will do the same using some air vents.

thanks guys.
here's the link for future reference incase anyone needs it
http://ag.arizona.edu/pubs/garden/az1002.pdf
it says to wrap it in paper or fabric, and not to use plastic,
however in http://www.gonegardening.com/xq/asp/group_id.20/article_id.72/referer./qx/gg_shop/article.htm
it says plastic is fine.
so is plastic fine for the outside covering for the stakes,
but to insulate the trunk, fabric is prefferred?
