denise1 starts with ... Lots of my yangmei have died or flopped over and I now think it is from town supply water having chlorine. It also is reported as dangerous to earthworms and soil microflora etc. With yangmei reliant on mycorrhiza it is no wonder some look so sad. I have ordered an inline hose filter that will take out most of the chlorine. I will probably also get a better germination rate with clean water. For smaller usage you can fill a bucket with tapwater and after 24 hours the chlorine will have evaporated. | About the Author denise1 auckland NZ 27th January 2015 8:33am #UserID: 6832 Posts: 688 View All denise1's Edible Fruit Trees |

sternus1 says... Seasol is ok with me but yeah, they definitely don't like hot fertiliser. I killed a couple with citrus fertiliser and another with powerfeed. The one I've just watered with seasol seems to be doing fine. The blacks are more vigorous and tougher than the White, I suspect the fruit will be better too. They definitely don't like wet feet, and are prone to root rot. Cannot handle full sun when small and the leaves burn easily, dry winds don't do them much good either. | About the Author sternus1 Australia 27th January 2015 7:24pm #UserID: 8314 Posts: 1318 View All sternus1's Edible Fruit Trees |
