Mike Tr says... I had a couple of parcels from overseas snatched again last week and I am still annoyed.I was undone by the fanciful definition of soil which covers nearly all potential packing mixes for seeds.I think cardboard is soil but paper is not but sphagnum and peat are. Now that WA is behind a domestic and national green curtain it sure means the future of horticulture is more bleak. The restrictions us in the east face suddenly don't seem so militant. | About the Author Mike Tr Cairns 25th March 2014 9:10pm #UserID: 8322 Posts: 614 View All Mike Tr's Edible Fruit Trees |

sternus1 says... Two packages refused exit and destroyed, something to do with the packaging--not to do with what I was sending out, the first refusal was the way I filled out the green quarantine slip, which I can't understand as I included the common and proper names. I'll have to dig around and find the letter, I kept one of them. | About the Author sternus1 Australia 25th March 2014 10:10pm #UserID: 8314 Posts: 1318 View All sternus1's Edible Fruit Trees |

Mike Tr says... Jason they have lots of free time on their hands and now want to mess with more than receivers.....givers.If only it had more to do with pest and disease than spreading misery and trying to justify their existence. Sternus a wrongly filled out green form will have them high fiving at the chance to pocket your parcel.Identify as garden seeds and that is good enough. | About the Author Mike Tr Cairns 26th March 2014 1:57pm #UserID: 8322 Posts: 614 View All Mike Tr's Edible Fruit Trees |
sternus1 says... Well I have to pay back our mutual friend in Thailand, so I'll be giving it another shot--that person is actually out seeds sent to me too which is the worst part of it all. The whole thing pisses me off. Garden seeds it will be, the result can't be worse than what I've already got. | About the Author sternus1 Australia 26th March 2014 4:21pm #UserID: 8314 Posts: 1318 View All sternus1's Edible Fruit Trees |
Mike Tr says... I have sent Sunan and Bangkok generous selections they are happy with what they received. A post cardboard box, with labelled clip lock bags inside (moist sphagnum with seeds)signed on the box and green form is needed. It must be handed over the counter with ID.The prepaid envelopes must be less than 2cm thick but disc boxes inside work well.Tape it all up well and put these through the counter as well. | About the Author Mike Tr Cairns 26th March 2014 7:57pm #UserID: 8322 Posts: 614 View All Mike Tr's Edible Fruit Trees |
sternus1 says... Check; all done, still returned.I even packed with sphagnum, and it all went down over the counter. To be fair I've sent out a lot of stuff internationally and these two times are the exception not the rule. Btw is it flooding up your way? I sent that package express yesterday, it should have arrived by now. | About the Author sternus1 Australia 26th March 2014 8:43pm #UserID: 8314 Posts: 1318 View All sternus1's Edible Fruit Trees |
Mike Tr says... Last week it rained a fair bit and I had maybe 250mm in 4 days but only 400mm for the month so less than average.Only a few sprinkles the last couple of days.Tully had about 600mm in 3 days but not in the last few days. The rain now is mostly central and Southern Queensland south of Bowen in central QLD. | About the Author Mike Tr Cairns 26th March 2014 9:02pm #UserID: 8322 Posts: 614 View All Mike Tr's Edible Fruit Trees |
