Manfred says... It is probably too late to get a bare-rooted apple tree now, but you can plant a potted or bagged one anytime. You probably won't get a granny/red delicious graft either just now, or ever if you don't order it specially. The world's best apple expert, Johnathon Banks, has the apple shop at Pialligo, so go to see him about what you are planning. He is very approachable as well as knowledgeable, but the stall won't be open now because there is no fresh fruit to attract customers. Try going around the side and calling out if there is no-one at the front, because there is often behind-the-scenes activity in the orchard. (Rodney and the Willow Park bloke, whose name temporarily escapes me, are also good on deciduous fruit- just don't ask any of the staff anything because most of them don't care what they don't know.) | About the Author Manfred tully 1st September 2015 11:58am #UserID: 9565 Posts: 243 View All Manfred's Edible Fruit Trees |
