Relocating Avocado trees

Jason says... I'd do it mid winter, they are difficult to transplant and have troubles getting water after they are moved. I can't remember ever moving one successfully but I've only tried in warmer parts of the year. Cheltenham2014 starts with ... Hi All, I have 2 avacado trees that are about 3 years old and approx 6ft tall. Unfortunately i am moving house but have the oppotunity to take the trees with me. Any suggestions/recommendations on how best to remove/transplant the trees and when would be a good time to do it? JohnMc1 says... Same, never had success moving avocado's. I lost a larger Avocado just moving it from a barrel pot into the ground. Better leaving in the ground for the new owners and buying new one's. You are going to a lot of effort and cost for disappointment I'm afraid.
