I've never seen it for sale at the Asian markets in Sydney. I too would like to try it, my tree has some flowers so maybe this will be the year.

It is very difficult to pick and pack this fruit . The largest commercial orchard was bulldozed after Cyclone Yasi . Hopefully recent trellised trees will produce more that should make it to market

Rollinia deliciosa in season now!

These Rollinia fruit were gotten from Parkmore Fruit Shop today. First time to try them and I encountered a creamy soft lemon meringue flavour and texture.

I would like to know what are the chances of being able to grow them in Melbourne given that we can grow Cherimoyas easily enough here. Thanks.

Linton maybe you got better varieties than me but my experience was that they were okay but no were as good as a cherimoya and the fruit is very gelatinous (snotty) in texture. My understanding it is lowland tropical and will struggle in the south. I decided after my last foray to the tropics that I was going to get over my "the fruit is better at the other end of the country attitude" and be happy I can grow cherimoya, low chill cherries and other very tasty fruits.

Cherimoya is from a high altitude and is frost hardy - rollinia definitely isn't.

I thought its season was around July. Wouldn't mind buying some myself.
