conventional wisdom says that apple won't perform in hot climates like brisbane. However, there is a guy in south California who tried plenty of apple and had successes. Long story short, my gala did fruit and had about 10 golf ball sized apples before the possum got to it.

To answer your question, gala can be possible to grow in brisbane but you may not get fruit every year and at best, they are marginal. Tropical Anna is a more robust performer.
