starling starts with ... I have one bare rooted sand cherry (prunus besseyi) for sale (no longer for trade, as advertised by the heading, apologies). This plant has come directly from the US, and is a cultivated variety selected for eating quality. This plant is not available in Australian nurseries. Will not post prior to payment. Alternatively I am happy to do cash on pickup. No need to reply to me here, my email is under my bio. thanks S | About the Author starlingshoals@gmail.com 9th October 2013 10:28pm #UserID: 8102 Posts: View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |

Linton says... Hi Starling I think the sand cherry would grow well in my dry sandy soil. I have Treacle Fruits and Zabala seedlings to swap if interested but you would need to let me know where you are located as they are not really tropical and need some chill. Zabalas and Lapagerias are currently being grown as far north as the central coast of NSW but that's about the limit for them. | About the Author Linton Springvale, Vic 10th October 2013 10:26am #UserID: 2286 Posts: 994 View All Linton's Edible Fruit Trees |

Linton says... Yellow Sand Cherry Little Sun I read that Prunus besseyi needs to be pollinated by a second plant to produce fruit. How about the named selections of Sand Cherries like Mando, Manmoor and Brooks - do they all need pollinators? The other one I would really like to grow is the yellow variety from Ukraine in the picture. It's called Prunus besseyi - Little Sun. Please try to find it. Thanks.

starling says... The one I have was listed as self pollinating, but I'll be sending two cuttings your way in case. I've read conflicting reports, so I'm not sure, I currently do have two so it doesn't matter. I don't think Iill be searching for any more snad cherries Linton, I really am only inten ding to use it as rootstock for a very, very low chill black cherry variety which comes from Turkey. | About the Author starlingshoals@gmail.com 25th October 2013 6:55pm #UserID: 8102 Posts: View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |

sternus1 says... I have one tree, but I can't disperse any just yet as I had several which died and obviously as its my last it has value to me. I had struck cuttings for linton which died...I think they can handle heat, but not humidity, Would be better in a temperate locale or somewhere hot and dry like Darwin. | About the Author sternus1 Australia 27th July 2014 6:13am #UserID: 8314 Posts: 1318 View All sternus1's Edible Fruit Trees |
