Sour orange seedling is a complete no no. At least bud it on to a resistant rootstock, otherwise it will drop dead on you and harbour CTV for any other citrus.

There are many strains of tristeza virus, budwood of limes and kaffir has been inoculated with mild strains to protect against severe forms. Symptoms can vary due to climate, worse on the coast, less in the hot inland.

Julie, yes it was used for many years, like asbestos and CCA timber for kids playgrounds.
Sour orange is highly susceptible and offers no resistance to CTV endemic in Australia.
This virus was responsible for the death of millions of trees worldwide last century on sour orange rootstock.
As per the DPI link for WA, it is not a rootstock used any more, despite producing superb quality fruit.
