Diana starts with ... This healthy and productive lime tree was growing on coral rubble on an atoll with seemingly no real soil in the western Solomons. I don't know how this works- huge amounts of water seems enough to make it happy. The toraka banana variety looks great, and I think this is an excellent initiative to preserve traditional varieties- I bought some dried chips from the hotel in Honiara. They should export them!

Diana says... Hi Jakfruit, They are locally called bushlime, they taste like a combination of lime and lemon. Citrus in the tropics stay green so it's hard to tell what they are. They have green mandarines in the market, limes, and pummelos. It would be great to have this tree here- it's yummy, productive, and appears to have an incredibly low nitrogen requirement. I also didn't see pests on it.
