St. Dominique de Violette

Tommoz starts with ...
Not Ronde or Violette de Bordeaux but shouldn't be too different. It's available from Heritage Fruit Trees.

I have VDB.

And you'd be wrong about the level of difference.

There might be variation in sweetness across fig cultivars but you are kidding if you think there is much taste difference, let alone between two purple figs from the same part of France.

It is what it is.

I guess you'd need more experience with both to know how dissimilar they are. Since nobody but me has VDB, you're going to be waiting a long time to find out ;)

Diggers has St. Dominique De Violette for sale. I'm no longer a member after some bad experiences with them but a friend who is a member gave one to me! I must say that since I left Diggers they seem to have improved their game - the fig I received was much bigger than the tiny sticks they used to send and it arrived a lot quicker too. Hopefully this one won't take four years to fruit.

I manage to subvert their system whenever I need something they have, which isn't often. Their plants always arrive slowly and in terrible condition. What really gets me about Diggers is that they expect people to pay a membership fee to receive shitty quality plants at premium prices.

Not this little black duck.

SDDV is a very good fig, you won't be disappointed.

I still haven't recieved that money yet V, you might want to check it went through.

I have less figs now than I had last year, perhaps I will get back into them, perhaps not.

I've been promising Mary one for so, long now it's getting embarrassing and I really need to sort that out first.

Ok, what are you looking for? Or if you could get anything, what would it be?

I have the best variety of bayberry, but as you know you need M/F for fruit and they are pretty space absorbing.

Maybe a little jujube that can be grown in a pot?

Thanks sternus1; I'm still wandering around trying to find space for the SDDV so must refrain from getting more trees for now or heads will roll.

There's no payments received for the last month in my paypal History. I'm not worried about it, but for next time make sure you get the info right, otherwise somebody gets a nice surprise and somebody doesn't.

When a person accepts your deposit, paypal will notify you by email that that person has accepted your payment.

Vict when making payment online it's best to ask for an invoice then when you pay on the invoice you cannot make a mistake. It would also be easier to track.

Hi Sternus, if you have any cuttings to spare of VDB fig I'd be very grateful! It sounds so tempting, so far I have Black Genoa & White Adriatic both about 2 years old but the BG gave me such lovely fruit this autumn I'm quite keen on figs now & of course they are great in pots. Happy to pay... TIA - & do let me know if you are after anything, just in case I happen to have it.

Hi. I am new to this forum, and I am a keen fig enthusiast. Despite living on a small block in a regional Ne Victorian town, I have managed to collect quite a few, most of which I grow in pots. I am trying to source either a ronde or Violette de Bordeaux. Does anyone know where I might purchase some cuttings or potted plants of either of thes varieties?
