Diana starts with ...
Hi all,
How long does starfruit take to ripen to yellow after it is full size and lime green and will it ripen off the tree? (I suspect not). I have the first crop on my two trees at this stage. We ate some- it's nice and juicy but it might get sweeter if left longer perhaps.

Eek! Diana, bag that fruit! Even with bags we lose half to beetles that eat the centers of the fruit. FF get 100% if unbagged

It's too late in the year for fruit fly though isn't it? I am in western Brisbane and nights are now pretty cool. The ones we ate didn't have any. I only just noticed the fruit on the tree, and I was most worried about fruit bats but they don't seem to have noticed them (distracted by guavas and bananas perhaps).
How long do they need to stay on the tree? They are already yellower than a few days ago so maybe we can harvest most of them shortly.

We can have FF all year in wet years. they overwinter in thin skinned citrus. They just took half of my loquat crop this week, and the purple guavas. May be different in the west though...
