Too many Banana pups

    4 responses

Hi guy's, i have a dwarf cavendish banana in a pot, it's about 2m tall and has just thrown up 7 separate pup's. Really would love to get it to fruit, i have only put BnB on it so far, do i need to fertilise with anything else? There is no way 7 pup's will fit in this pot so i will need to cut them out, but don't want to disturb the parent plant? Is 7 pup's unusual?

Remove all but one or two pups. Pick the one's to keep that have long spear like leaves. Being in a pot, I'd be going for a weekly liquid feed that has Potash like Thrive for flowers and fruit. Powerfeed for fruit would be another good fertilizer and water them every day when they get going.

bananas need a metric shit tonne of nitrogen every year. Powerfeed or dynamic lifter will do it.
