Walnut tree

I live in postcode 2283 (between Sydney and Newcastle) and would like a small tree in the backyard with a good crack-out rate. Would anyone be able to comment on the suitability of either the walnut Placentia or Franquette for the area and the crack-out rate for either?

You wanted a small tree? Walnuts are huge! And nothing else will grow well near them.

I can't think of a worse choice for a suburban back yard, unless perhaps those varieties are dwarf trees.
