Weak lemon flavor

    2 responses

I am in the mountains of Michoacán, Mexico. Our nights are generally cool because of the altitude (2100+ M). I have a lemon tree of unknown variety. It has just begun to produce fruit in the last year. The fruit has a very watery, weak, rather sweet flavor. Is the soil possibly lacking some nutrient, or is the climate to blame? Others here don't seem to have this issue with their lemons.

It may be the limetta lemon tree, in which case the peel will be knobbly and thick and also edible compared to other citrus. It is easy to grow by cuttings.

It could be the type of lemon, there are sweet lemons and sweet limes, lemonades plus other types. Some are from Mexico.
A photo of the fruit would help.
