That is a Dogwood Tree (Cornus) you have, probably Cornas kousa. The fruit is edible although not highly rated.

I wouldnt usually eat them as they are not very good. Once I found a tree with larger fruit than normal and after a couple of hours of squeezing a bit (now and then) and putting on the car dashboard, it developed an acceptable taste that I have not encountered before. By acceptable I mean that I could have eaten ten instead of the normal one. I would guess that the ancients may have known a way of making them a perfectly acceptable delicacy.
