MaryT says... Hi Paula, sorry none of us got back to you for three weeks but you asked a big question that would take more time to answer than most of us can spare, I suspect. Or maybe none of us live near Batemans Bay so cannot make specific suggestions to you. Years ago I did a home gardener's course at Ryde's Horticulture College and the advice they gave me was great: when you go into a new site, first study the site for twelve months - know your patch well: the sun's passage at different times of the year (aspects) and the soil quality etc. Also, know yourself well: how much time and energy are you prepared to give? Have a walk around and see what other people are growing in their yard, visit the local nursery and join a local community garden if there's one. Talk to your neighbours. These days local councils are helpful to home gardeners. I wish you well: if you are a regular reader of this forum you would know that almost anything can be grown anywhere, it just depends how much time, energy and often money you want to throw at it. | About the Author MaryT Sydney 15th April 2014 9:23am #UserID: 5412 Posts: 2066 View All MaryT's Edible Fruit Trees |
