I would prefer to plant a white shahtoot rather than a red one however I want to keep the height around 3-4 metres maximum. Will a white shahtoot be happy about that or should I bite the bullet and purchase the red shahtoot??

I have a White shatoot and I wished I grew a standard red. They are sickly sweet and insipid. They lack depth and therefore never get eaten in my garden.
I use the wood of the tree for BBQ smoke

That's interesting - I understood the red and white shahtoot tasted the same. I've gone ahead and bought a red shahtoot - thanks for your answer :)
