Jaboticaba (Seedling) 10/10 Simon's Edible FruitsUpdate: 118 days 22hrs Comments: - I'm growing this as a hedge and am very happy. It tends to grow upwards and I have been pulling some of the branches to the side to get it to fill out. Very happy with the result I prune every three or so months to keep the hedge look. After 2 years it hit approx 2 metres, my desired height. We did a renovation at about the time, lost one and damaged another. The damaged plant was stressed and has now started to fruit. The others have not yet. Very happy with the hedge, very hapy with the fruit. My three year old loves to go and check if there are fruit and eat any that are ready Fruiting Months February, October, December Planted: 2008 Height 2 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 6 First Fruited: 3 Years from purchase in pot Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Summer and Spring Summer, Autumn, Winter, SpringPollination: No When I Fertilise: Yearly Pest Control: My chickens get some bugs off them. I also have some fruit fly traps Organic Status:Organic Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report 19 of 20 people found this review useful Commentsfos says... [118 days 9hrs ago]Hi Simon in sunny Brisbane.Good photos. We had one in northern NSW.Slow to start but at 5-7yrs flowered & fruited profusely. We watewred to establish when young then it really looked after itself. A very dense tree, branching more as it got older 1.5m W x 3+m H. I hope your hedge goes well, you'll probably get loads of fruit.* You need your own My Edibles Page to contribute Quick & Easy |
Grape - Golden Muscat (Grafted) Simon's Edible FruitsUpdate: 118 days 23hrs Comments: - This is a seeded grape. I had quite good growth in the first year and two small bunches of grapes. I did not treat it well initially and replanted it twice. I was suprised that it survived. I am happy that it survived and really happy with the taste. I hate that the posums appear to get to it before me thought! Fruiting Months March and April Planted: 2008 Height 1 metres Qty: 1 Fruit Harvest: 0.5 kilograms per Year First Fruited: 1 Years from purchase in pot Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Summer Pruned By: 90% in After Fruiting Pollination: No When I Fertilise: Never Pest Control: Nil Was this review helpful? Wampi - Yeem Pay (Grafted) 9/10 Simon's Edible FruitsUpdate: 118 days 23hrs Comments: - Initially I grew this on a trellis espalier style. Not suitable, I didn't get it to grow branches where I wanted them. I have since moved the plant 2 more times and it has survived. My chickens love to dig up the roots yet this plant has not died. This is very hardy. Flowering and setting fruit in its third year.

Richmond Birdwing Vine (Seedling) 8/10 Simon's Edible FruitsUpdate: 904 days 22hrs Comments: - Planted in ground. Plant is a little more straggly than I expected. The flowers have just started. Not really noticable, but it was planted for environmental reasons, to assist with getting birdwing butterflies back into the area. I have not seen any yet.
