14/04/11 Frost: None About My Edible BackyardWhy BRENDAN Love's Edible Plants hi my name is brendan i live in a suburb in adelaide where the city plain meets the adelaide foothills my backyard seems to be well protected ( facing northish ) and is not affected by frost ( so far) i'll just start this page now and add to it later i have purchased many plants from daleys ( many experimental) and will try to give an account of how they have gone

Babaco (Grafted) 6/10 BRENDAN's Edible FruitsUpdate: 302 days 14hrs Comments: - GOOD LOOKING COMPACT PLANT GROWS IN 60 LTR POT FRUITED LAST YEAR UNRIPE FRUIT ( GREEN ) STAY ON PLANT OVER WINTER IN ADELAIDE AND SHOULD RIPEN ( TURN YELLOW ) THIS SUMMER LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS next spring / summer fruits turned yellow and ripened has a nice melon taste when fully yellow WARNING AS STATED IN THE FORUMS BE CAREFUL WITH DRAINAGE WITH BABACO DON'T OVER WATER - ROOT / STEM FUNGAL ROT IS THE BIG PROBLEM

naranjilla 5/10BRENDAN's Edible FruitsUpdate: 302 days 15hrs Comments: - needs regular water keep out of direct sun in summer after 2 years is starting to fruit ( march 2010 ) likes 8 - 10 hours of light to set fruit form my reading lush looking with large deep green leaves with a purple tinge as daleys suggest pollination is low in november 2010 the fruit turns orange , rub the hairs off and the flavour is worth waiting for. unfortunatrely there isn't a lot of fruit and the fruit are only slightly bigger than an inch across but delish
