Custard Apple - Paxton Prolific (Grafted)1010501's Edible FruitsUpdate: 947 days 10hrs Comments: - Plant arrived in in Feb 2020 in great condition with soil still damp. Will plant this into a pot after 1-2 weeks outside and provide updates. May 2020 - slowly, but consistently, growing since potting. We will see how it copes with winter in Toowoomba - may have to bring it inside on cool nights. Winter 2020: Brought inside every night. Jan 2021: Has put on a lot of new growth, now in 45L planter bag. Flowered, but set no fruit. September 2021: Looks worse for wear after staying outside in Toowoomba winter, but survived and putting on new growth. Planted: 2020 Growing: In a Pot Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Full Sun Pollination: Self Pollination Was this review helpful? Rollinia - Brazilian Custard Apple (Seedling) 9/10Bruada1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 1553 days 1hrs Comments: - I purchased this Rollinia bout 4 years ago out at Holliways Beach Markets off a lad down from Juletten selling tropical fruit trees. It sat around in it's pot for a couple of years till I got round to planting it out. Decided to try to top it at about 1 meter and pull the branchers out and tying them down till they stayed there, as I heard they are shallow rooted and will blow over in a blow so by keeping it low hope to not loose it in a cyclone and also make it easy to pick fruit. Maby would have toped it at 1-1/2 to 2 meters if doing it again to allow more room to spread fertliser and mulch underneath as this seems to be working fine. This is the first time it has fruited. Planted: 2018 Height 2 metres Growing: In the Ground First Fruited: 4 Years from purchase in pot Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Spring SpringPollination: No Fertiliser or Organics Used: Blood and Bone, pelitised Chicken shit, potash Organic Status:Organic Was this review helpful? Dwarf Custard Apple - Tropic Sun (Grafted) 10/10Malanda231's Edible FruitsUpdate: 1897 days 1hrs Comments: - Espaliered, looks awesome - took well to this and friends have commented. Love the fruit, not gritty/grainy like some other custard apples and small seeds too. No need to hand pollinate. Downside is that all of the fruit comes at once, quickly over a month from mid-feb to march in Brisbane. Must bag/net to protect from fruit fly - unripe fruit drops leading up to harvest as a natural thinning method so I bag by Feb and find fruit only start to get stung two weeks after the very first fruit drops. I harvest fruit to freeze the pulp to use later. Amazing with vanilla ice cream. I took a gamble with limited info online when I got this tree - it is a winner!!! I don't know why someone could not like the taste. Fruiting Months March Height 3 metres Growing: In the Ground Fruit Harvest: 3 kilograms per Year First Fruited: 3 Years from purchase in pot Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Autumn and Winter Summer, Autumn, WinterPollination: Self Pollination Organic Status:Certified Was this review helpful? Rollinia - Brazilian Custard Apple 7/10LissyK1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 3057 days 10hrs Comments: - Seems to be growing well so far. It has passed the brutal Mareeba sun test and didn't mind the transfer into the ground. It is now struggling with the unrelenting heat. Not sure if it will survive. Probably needs the moistureof more tropical areas. Planted: 2015 Height 0.8 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Spring Was this review helpful? It was flowering when I moved away, and was 5-6 foot tall and very healthy. So sad I missed out on seeing if it set fruit.* You need your own My Edibles Page to contribute Quick & Easy |

Rollinia - Brazilian Custard Apple (Grafted) 8/10Jenny's Edible FruitsUpdate: 3786 days 11hrs Comments: - I just loved the description of a fruit that tasted like lemon delicious pudding, took a punt, bought one, it has only ever given me one fruit, i tasted it and was sold! There are masses of flowers on it now but no fruit set even though i'm keeping the water up (you'd think in Brisbane we'd have high enough humidity) so i'm having a go at hand pollination. The suspense is killing me. I hope it works. update, fruit rather bland and disappointing, looking into grafting different varieties on to the tree found it necessary to regularly spray with fungicide to keep the fruit Fruiting Months January, February, November, December Planted: 2008 Growing: In the Ground Qty: 1 Fruit Harvest: 1 Fruit Per Year Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Water Given in: Spring Pruned By: 30% in After Fruiting, Autumn, Winter, Spring Pollination: Hand Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Fruit tree fertiliser When I Fertilise: Spring Organic Status:Organic Was this review helpful? [2605 days 2hrs ago] I agree Jenny - rootstock vigour was not great for mine either - very slow to recover from shipping and didnt grow back well after winter - Ive grafted to my own cold tolerant cherimoya and have 4 powering away in march 2017 a month after grafting - hoping this is successful.* You need your own My Edibles Page to contribute Quick & Easy |
