Pitaya - Red Dragon Fruit (Cutting) 6/10

JUJUBE FOR SALE IN MELBOURNE's Edible Fruits
Update: 16 days 24hrs

Comments: -

Easy to grow, even a cutting with rotten end can be successfully saved by removing the rotten bit and grow again. I had one flower last year and I noticed that the branch had the flower bending down so I have since made a proper stand for the vine to climb over. Hopefully, I will have some fruits this year. To speed up the growing process dolomite and dynamic lifter should be applied in growing season, just a bit every 2 months. so far no fruit set.

I bought this from a nursery two years ago in a pot. This year I planted it in the ground with a mixture of dirt, cow manure and compost.  It doesn't seem to be doing so well.  The Tahitians lime next to it planted at the same with the same mixture seems to be doing fine.  It gets plenty of sun.  I think be the conifers growing behind in along the fence line in the neighbours back yard could be the reason. Or am over compensating with water because of the conifers. Don't know!

Oct 2009 Still tiny but growing. New leaves are a bit distorted and curled. Hope it will crawl up my patio support pole and onto the surrounding...will be very pretty sight.

Oct 2010 Sadly my dog decided to prune both leaders really hard last autumn. Fortunately it survived, to my amazement, and is growing again with a few new buds and now leaves.  Looking forward to have it crawl up my pongola again. :)

Sept 2011 Finally this spring this vine has produced lots of flower clusters. It's two leader vines are crawling on both sides of my roof beam.

Using it to cover an ugly old garage. Erected a trellis , planted in large pot and it took off first summer. However with the cold weather and lack of sunshine, all growth has stopped but still looking healthy.  Waiting for sun and warmth to see if it will keep growing.  Main goal to cover garage with pretty greenery. If I can get it to flower and fruit that would be a BONUS!

Will these passionfruit become rootbound in their current large pot? Anyone else growing successfully in a pot?

Pitaya - Vietnam Dragon Fruit (Cutting)

Cam's Edible Fruits
Update: 469 days 13hrs

Comments: -

I took my kids for a walk around my area one day and saw a huge Pitaya plant grown in the front yard owned by an old Vietnamese couple. I asked the elderly man for a cutting and he ended upended a small cutting with the root intact for me. It was very nice of him. The Vietnam Dragon Fruit is sharing the same pot with the Yellow Dragon Fruit. I can't wait till ]my Yellow Dragon Fruit matures, so I can take some cuttings and give it to the elderly couple in return.

Passionfruit - Grafted Black (Grafted) 8/10

TimmyDoulos's Edible Fruits
Update: 670 days 12hrs

Comments: -

Grafted black Nellie Kelly bought from Bunnings in May, to use to screen the lattice fence seperating the carport/driveway from the back yard.  The lattice faces North West. Used lots of dynamic lifter to fertilise when it was planted.

Currently it receives only low sun, being shaded in the late afternoon by an exisiting gum tree (which I plan to remove) and in the morning by the carport (which I don't plan to!)

Looks a bit poorly but should improve with more sun.  The chickens enjoy scratching around it and I have planted broadbeans nearby for green fertiliser later on. (Although the chooks have been stripping the bean plants of most of their leaves)
