Coffee arabica Kathy's Edible FruitsUpdate: 42 days 6hrs Comments: - Lovely large glossy leaves. Bright green new growth ages to a dark green. Seems to be slow growing. Summer 2011: FIRST FLOWERS! So excited. They are hard to see because they are down at the base of the leaves along the branches but they are there! Fingers crossed for some fruit!!! I had always been told that they were highly fragrant. I haven't noticed any particular smell but with all the rain it could easily have been washed away. Coffee arabica (Grafted) 9/10 Heather's Edible FruitsUpdate: 517 days 9hrs Comments: - We planted the 2 coffee trees behind the shed as we read they like Lime. The cement slab does seem to encourage them along. Our first crop we only got enough beans off 1 of the trees to have 2 cups of coffee. This year we got 4 kilo of beans between the 2 trees. For roasting the beans we got an oil can and devised a way to put it on the BBQ rotisserie. After some experimenting we found by doing it this method for 20 minutes it gave them a lovely taste. Fruiting Months May and June Planted: 2008 Height 2 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 2 Fruit Harvest: 4 kilograms per Year First Fruited: 1 Years from purchase in pot Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Water Given in: Spring Pruned By: 3% in After Fruiting Pollination: No When I Fertilise: When Fruiting Pest Control: No sprays used Organic Status:Organic Question: To add extra flavour to the beans we were wondering if we could add Macadamia Oil to the roasting procedure?
