Custard Apple -KJ Pinks (Grafted)VF's Edible FruitsUpdate: 30 days 1hrs Comments: - Bought as I love the fruit, but wanted an easy care variety ie. no hand pollination required, and smaller tree. Should taste good as is a bud sport of "Pinks Mammoth", a tasty fruit. Plant very eager to set fruit (set a couple when still in pot, and again when planted out early this year - I removed, as plant too immature and shapeless yet.) Looking forward to great fruit. Height 1 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Summer Pollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Citrus feed and Seasol When I Fertilise: Spring Pest Control: Tree small enough for me to manually remove the odd scale insect, but may have to use white oil spray as tree grows. Nil other problems yet. Question: When is it best to tip prune? Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report * You need your own My Edibles Page to contribute Quick & Easy |

Rollinia - Brazilian Custard Apple (Grafted) 8/10 JenESco's Edible FruitsUpdate: 140 days 2hrs Comments: - I just loved the description of a fruit that tasted like lemon delicious pudding, took a punt, bought one, it has only ever given me one fruit, i tasted it and was sold! There are masses of flowers on it now but no fruit set even though i'm keeping the water up (you'd think in Brisbane we'd have high enough humidity) so i'm having a go at hand pollination. The suspense is killing me. I hope it works. Rollinia - Brazilian Custard Apple 7/10 BJ's Edible FruitsUpdate: 141 days 4hrs Comments: - Fruit is really nice - lemony custard apple taste, but it is a bit sloppier than the other custrad apples, which can put some folks off. Tree is quick growing and flowers profusely year-round, but will only set fruit when given buckets of water and some liquid potash does not go astray. the flowers smell amazing, yet fail to attract many pollinators (like many annona). First fruit formed 2 years after purchase, so I assume 3 years from seed. Fruiting Months March Planted: 2010 Height 2 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 1 Fruit Harvest: 2 kilograms per Year First Fruited: 2 Years from purchase in pot Sun/Shade: Full Sun Pruned By: 40% in Spring Pollination: Self Pollination When I Fertilise: When Fruiting and Spring Pest Control: No pests observed. Have heard they can be attacked by nematodes, so I willl be putting marigold around it. Was this review helpful? Custard Apple - \'Paxton\'s Prolific\' (cv. KJ Pink\'s) (Grafted) 10/10 BJ's Edible FruitsUpdate: 157 days 18hrs Comments: - Budsport of Pink's Mammoth, so same type of fruit, just self-pollinates much better. In its first season it had many flowers and set two fruits while still in its 6l bag, which I had to knock off so it didnt get too stressed at this size. Going into the ground when dormant in winter. ----- 2011 - has set fruit already. Nice growth rate and easily managed. Brilliant! Custard Apple - Pinks Mammoth (Seedling) 8/10 Mak Jeng's Edible FruitsUpdate: 170 days 17hrs Comments: - So far so good. I found some of this variety on sale at Rusty's Bazaar in Cairns. I told the grower I thought it was too low yielding for commercial use. He suggested a heavy pruning with removal of all leaves in autumn, dynamic lifter in spring and fertilizer when buds appear, followed by hand pollenation. Custard Apple - African Pride (Grafted) 8/10 Amanda's Edible FruitsUpdate: 452 days 19hrs Comments: - I have two atemoyas - an african pride and hilary white. They have been recalcitrant plants to get established! I don't think the wind has helped though. I am waiting for the tap root to establish more strongly. They also suffer burnt leaf magins. The A.pride has decided to flower this week...(it's July). I had 4 fruit off the A.pride this season and they were lovely. It was too soon to let it fruit - but I was greedy! They pollinated on their own. My pruning job not too good on these guys. Floweredall winter long (2009) and set no fruit by spring when flowers finished. Nov 2010: Flowering madly. I put an extra microsprayer on it and the extra water has really helped it along. custard apple (Grafted)Sheree's Edible FruitsUpdate: 616 days 2hrs Comments: - Not sure what root stock this is on but it was marketed as a cold tolerant variety. Hasn't seen any damage as yet and is a fairly slow grower. I think it needs to move from where it is though. In hind sight it's going to need more room and it definetly needs to be out of reach of the passionfruit vine! - so I translanted this one to a roomier position and then got a nasty frost. It does not look happy at all! But it's still hanging in there. Custard Apple - Hilary White 8/10 Town Farm's Edible FruitsUpdate: 635 days 4hrs Comments: - Yet to fruit. Gets a fair bit of wind and we live on the water so I have had it staked. Trying to keep growth under control as I am limited with space. I have a few flowers on this tree now so am hoping the high winds don't blow them off! I think I pruned it at the wrong time so didn't get fruit again this year. I think I will just leave it alone this year and see what happens. Custard Apple - African Pride (Seedling) 10/10 Alex 's Edible FruitsUpdate: 645 days 4hrs Comments: - My custard apple tree is my pride and joy in my inner brisbane backyard. Eventhough it competes with some other 20 trees for attention, it fruited within 2 years of planting with reasonably sized fruit. It stands between a black sapote and mulberry, and is a fantastic addition to my collection of edible backyard foods.
