Dwarf Mango - Palmer (Grafted)

SN1's Edible Fruits
Update: 1188 days 18hrs

Comments: - Once the Alphonso mango had died I replaced it with a Dwarf Palmer. Tree looking okay , there are some fruits still on the tree but one of them is cracking./spliting!

Fruiting Months January and December

Planted: 2018

Growing: In the Ground

Sun/Shade: Full Sun

Question: One of the mango is spliting/cracking, is it because of continuous rain for two weeks?

Plant arrived in May 2020 in great condition with soil still damp. Will plant this into a pot after 1-2 weeks outside and provide updates.

We will see how it copes with winter in Toowoomba - may have to bring it inside on cool nights

Dwarf Mango - King Thai

Sesame1's Edible Fruits
Update: 2703 days 14hrs

Comments: - I have a few mango trees that grow in pots and ground. They did ok in Melbourne but grew very slowly and suffered some die back in winter. I had 2 mango trees planted in ground died. New growth emerged around late November and easily burnt by hot summer sun. So they need protection from frost and sun while they are young.

Planted: 2016

Dwarf Mango - Irwin (Grafted) 7/10

StaceysGarden's Edible Fruits
Update: 2747 days 1hrs

Comments: - Grafted this one myself after learning the skill for my PhD. Growing like a weed, getting a new vegetative flush pretty much every fortnight. Am going to let it get a bit taller then decapitate to force lateral buds to keep the height down. Growing in a 100L pot because I rent. Come the dry season I'm going to have a crack at inducing flowering using foliar Potassium nitrate.

Height 3 metres

Growing: In a Pot

Sun/Shade: Full Sun

Water Given in: Spring

Pollination: No

Question: Will I get fruit if it is in a 100L pot?

Carla - hate to see you losing to the animals. Try my method of protecting mangoes using empty 3 litre plastic milk bottles on each mango.

Loves Fruit Trees's Edible Fruits
Update: 3031 days 22hrs

Comments: -

I love my little Mango Tree__ She is simply gorgeous! She came 2 weeks before Spring 2015 so carefully packed. She travelled very well and is still happy. She has four lots of leaves now and I would love to get another one. I am growing all Dwarf Fruit Trees in 51cm Green Pots. If I shift, I can take them with me. And it is possible to have a Mini Orchard this way plus more variety.

I will place a picture here early next year. I am using SoilCharge Organic Fertilizer for my fruit trees and veges.....it has naturally occurring trace elements and you can use it once a month instead of once each season. I like that idea better. I also have a special water filter that clicks onto the garden hose - it omits chlorine so your plants can benefit more from the water.

Fertiliser or Organics Used: SoilCharge

Pest Control: ECO-OIL As a precaution.
