Pomegranate - Rosavaya (Cutting) Kath's Edible FruitsUpdate: 91 days 6hrs Comments: - A lovely plant that is growing really well with little -or rather no attention. Beautiful red leaf flush of new growth in the spring, lights up the bottom of the orchard. On fire in the afternoon sunset as the glowing tail end of the day lights up the new growth. Gorgeous. Tough spot in the orchard - lives in the shaddow of the weed wall! - But on the bright side at least the wattle shading it has gone. Weeping foliage & gorgeous flowers make this a lovely plant to have in the orchard. All flower dropped 2010, 2011, tried hand pollinating - crossing with a Wonderful. Picked my first fruit February 2012 & made some delicious and beautifully colourde pomegranate dressing. pomegranate (Seedling) 6/10BJ's Edible FruitsUpdate: 137 days 15hrs Comments: - It was on a Bunnings throw-out table and I couldn't resist! I stuck it straight into the ground and have poured my washing-machine run-off onto it. I've never had a plant thrive so much! It started at 20cm high and about 30cm wide ... in 4 months it was 1.5m high, about 2m wide and covered in fruit and flowers. I have hacked it back to about 80cm tall to encourage bushyness and a bit of strength (it was weedy). Nothing seems to worry it! Unfortunately I've only tried the fruit 'unripe' ... I think it has potential but might need to leave it on the plant longer! Plant appears to retain its leaves and flower year-round on about half the branches, but looses leaves on the other half! It is looking very lush with minimal water in the middle of summer. I don't think the fruit tastes the best - but these plants are tough, and can survive mistreatment in very poor WA soil and harsh WA sun. Next time, I'm investing in a non-seedling to get the superior fruit, but the plants are fantastic (even if the fruit is very seedy and not that exciting in the taste department). They are only watered every few weeks and are in the worst possible location - tough as old boots. Planted: 2010 Height 1.5 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 2 First Fruited: 2 Months from Purchase in Pot Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Water Given in: Spring Pollination: Self Pollination When I Fertilise: Never Pest Control: None Organic Status:Partially Organic Was this review helpful? Pomegranate - Wonderful (Seedling) Kathy's Edible FruitsUpdate: 144 days 23hrs Comments: - It might be a Wonderful - the folliage looks right but I can't be sure. This plant is an icon of my childhood memories. It sprang up unbidden in my grandma's garden and I was lucky enough to get the only seedling it has ever produced. The fruit are small but the bush is only small. In fact at the moment she looks like she has more flowers than leaves! She is very slow growing, and the branches are very fragile. You should use scissors to cut the fruit off because if you pull or twist you can take a whole branch with it. She is very hardy though. She has been snapped in half a number of times (evil street children with soccer balls) and always come back. Spring 2011: I saved some seeds from a fruit last year and now have lots and lots of beautiful tiny little seedlings. Fruiting Months January, February, March Planted: 2006 Height 60 Centimetres Growing: In a Pot Qty: 6 Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Pruned By: 10% in Pollination: No Fertiliser or Organics Used: Charlie Carp, Seasol, warm juie, Dynmaic Lifter, Blood and Bone (in rotation) Pest Control: curly leaf = white oil Was this review helpful? Pomegranate - Wonderful 8/10 NQ Grower's Edible FruitsUpdate: 253 days 17hrs Comments: - The flowers are so vivid and beautiful - fruit will be a bonus! Bought from Bunnings so I am not sure on the variety, we have had flowers twice so far but no fruit. In a massive pot - this is our second attempt with the pommegranate - our first plant was in the pot and did not drain properly - with our wet season there was two inches of water in the top of the pot for about a week and the plant died. We now have made sure the drainage is better (more holes in the pot and a small layer of gravel) and the new tree is thriving Planted: 2011 Height 80 Centimetres Growing: In a Pot Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Spring Pollination: Self Pollination Question:

Pomegranate - Rosavaya (Seedling) Cam's Edible FruitsUpdate: 552 days 15hrs Comments: - Rosavaya is a variety from Russia producing elongated fruits. Although the appearance of the fruit is not as attractive as its American (Wonderful) counterpart, they make it up for the taste. The current size of the plant may be too small and fragile to be planted in the ground so I planted in a bigger pot until next Winter. Planted in bigger pot in September 2010.
