My Edible Fruit Trees: Pummelo Trees
Pummelo - Carters Red (Grafted) 3/10 Edward3's Edible FruitsUpdate: 438 days 3hrs Comments: - The Flick's Yellow pummelo which we have has very nice fruit so we decided to try the red pummelo variety as well. Has flowered well, but low fruit set and fruit drops off while still small. Suspect inadequate water. We finally got a few fruit in 2019 but found it took a very long time to ripen. The ffruit was quite bitter and not tasty, probably because not suited to Sydney climate. Not recommended. In 2023 have reworked the plant to multigraft - Cara Cara orange, washington navel and Lisbon lemon. Grafts growing very well and flowering already in 2024. Dwarf Pummelo Nam Roi (Grafted) 7/10 Rusticular's Edible FruitsUpdate: 2795 days 2hrs Comments: - Variety unknown, lost cultural notes. Small fruit but very juicy, and a lot sweeter than a grapefruit. Not what I would call a dwarf, but I suppose it would probably have been a lot bigger from seed. Good fruit but gets attacked by fruit fly.
