Acmena ingens - Red Apple
The large prominent fruits of this tree will change as they age from a light pink to a dark red. The tree is large with a large spreading crown. Often the trunk in older specimens is buttressed. This tree is attractive to fruit eating birds and other wildlife.
Angophora floribunda - Rough Barked AppleA large spreading tree and resembles a rough-barked eucalypt. In summer mature plants are covered in fluffy cream flowers. Suitable for the larger town garden or rural property.
Star Apple
Sometimes known as Caimito is native to the West Indies where it is a very popular fruit. Fruit can be purple or green skinned. When cut in half there is an attractive star pattern. The flesh is sweet and tastes very smooth and aromatic. A very attractive tropical tree, leaves green above and gold underneath. Not suitable for temperate climates.
Yacon - Apple of the Earth
Also known as the 'Earth Apple' this is one of the ancient crops of the Inca's. Produces large tubers similar in appearance to sweet potatoes, but they have a much sweeter taste and crunchy flesh. Vigorous, herbaceous perennial plant related to the sunflower growing to 2 metres tall.
Apple - Dwarf Red Fuji
The aromatic flesh of the red fuji is tinged with a delicate honey-pineapple flavour, sweet and aromatic. The crisp, crunchy flesh is very juicy and the fruits hold well on the tree. The skin ripens from greenish yellow to a dull russett red. Pollinates with the red delicious, and pink lady. A high chill variety of apple for cooler regions.
Custard Apple - African Pride
