Olive - Kalamata

Their fruit is juicy and sweet and have a unique torpedo shape and split in the skin. The most popular olive in Australia, they are ideal for use in cooking or as an olive to eat alone. A Rabbiteye variety released from North Carolina this variety is an early season rabbiteye variety, that produces fruit of excellent colour, size and flavour. The bushes are vigorous and productive, and have been suited to mechanical harvesting.

Pine Nut

An attractive large pine tree that bears cones of edible nuts. These are considered a delicacy in Mediterranean style cooking, due to their sweet, buttery flavour. Trees can be expected to start producing cones from about year 6. But can take longer. Each cone holds about 50 nuts and 100 kg of cones holds about 20 kg of nuts. Grows best in dry cooler areas with excellent drainage. Trees can set nuts on their own, but cones may be poorly filled. Plant two or more to improve nut set.

Blueberry - Powderblue

Noted because the fruit has a powdery blush and is medium in size. It is one of the toughest blueberry varieties with a harvest later in the season. A bigger harvest can be achieved by mixing with other rabbiteyes such as the tifblue or others will suit. A great selection for QLD and northern NSW as they don't need many chill hours for the fruit to set. Often the white flowers have a flush of pink. Grows well in pots and has thick enough foliage to be used as a hedge in summer but lets the light through in winter.

Palm - Date Khadrawy

Originally from Iraq, Khadrawy dates are a much smaller date that has a high moisture content, less sugar, and a milder flavour than the popular Medjool dates. They are a dark mahogany colour with dry, flaky, paper-like skin. Our palms are small seedlings and are not sexed, they will take about 4-6 years to flower approximately and you will not be able to tell if they are male or female until then. We recommend a planting of at least three to increase your chances of having both a male and a female palm.

Loquat - Nagasakiwase

The best Japanese variety so far, it has deep orange flesh, high flesh/seed ratio and very sweet flavour. Earliest variety to ripen. Thinning fruit will enhance fruit size. The Nagasakiwase often has 2 crops a year in the subtropics. The first crop in April / May then again in August. We have found by cincturing in summer, the August crop has a much larger crop and better fruit size.

Japanese Raisin

A fast growing tree that produces small raisin like fruit stalks which can be eaten fresh, cooked or dried. The Raisin Tree is deciduous and can grow to a height of 21m but in the open is more commonly around 9m with a single trunk and a rounded head. They have handsome, large, glossy green, cordate leaves which can hang from the stem. The flowers are small but are clustered together in great masses and are cream in colour.

Seedling of the well known Californian Medjool variety. Beautiful ornamental tree with the added advantage of delicious dates. They require both a Male and female plant for pollination and fruit set along with hot dry summers. Our palms can not be chosen as male or female. The only way to know this is after they flower. Berry - Loganberry Thornless

Cross between the blackberry and the red raspberry. The long cylindrical berry is a delightful dusky purple-red when ripe. The aromatic fruit becomes sweeter when sun-ripened and is delicious eaten fresh or used in preserves and desserts. The plant is propagated by cutting and is taken from the thornless parent and is a clone. The roots, however, can still occasionally revert to producing thorny stems and these must be managed.

Ceylon Hill Gooseberry

An excellent ornamental shrub that produces a spectacular display of deep rose-pink or mauve flowers. Appearing throughout spring the flowers are followed by small round purple berries that have few seeds. The sweet berries are delicious eaten fresh or in Jams. Berry - Elderberry

A small deciduous shrub whose berries are used to make elderberry wine. Elderberry plants are also grown as ornamental plants in the garden and are frost tolerant. Full sun and a well drained humus rich soil will provide the best results. A deciduous suckering shrub growing 3m or more. The berries and flowers are edible, but other parts of the plant are poisonous, containing toxic calcium oxalate crystals.

Considered by many the finest of Fig Varieties, Violette De Bordeaux sets the standard for closed-eye, mission type figs. Deep Aubergine skin conceals a vibrant red strawberry pulp that is superb and rich with complex flavours, notably that of maple sugar. Fruits are medium to large sized and suitable for both fresh and drying. A hardy cultivar that is naturally semi-dwarfing and drought tolerant, Violette de Bordeaux is an excellent choice for those with space and water restrictions.
