The "Free reward plant" offer continues to go downhill. It's the same two or three fruit trees every time with a few very cheap trees, plants tagged on. How about a bit of variety in the $10-&15 fruit tree range. Or at least give some recognition for repeat orders and total order history? as far as the quality of your avocado plants and the postage goes I can not offer any suggestion to improve your business methods. In regard to my recent purchase of Papaya trees goes it appears to me that the plants were placed in Travel containers too small for the job as one had the top broken off and the other appeared to have suffered in transit. All plants received in the past are healthy and growing beautifully. My Kentish cherry bore 5 fruit from a dozen or so flowers. 2 survived to maturity. which is very encouraging, since the plant is quite small. Some plants you want me to buy four of the same plant ... when in reality I just want one. That has stopped me from buying them in different occasions. When you have a plant 'not available' and I ask when will you have it, you don't provide an answer. I don't need to be given the exact day, but an idea if it is going to become available in the next few days, few weeks or few months could be very helpful. Then I can organize my garden, otherwise I am left in limbo. Your website is very user-friendly. I just love the tantalising array of edible plants available at Daleys Fruit Nursery. The packaging of the plants is the best I've ever seen, and they arrive in perfect condition every time. Hello Daley's, Thankyou for an opportunity to respond to your survey. I really like your service and up until my last order from you I have had good product and service, however, as you have asked, I have to say I am a bit disappointed with the last order which included 4 x Red Cedar's, 4 x Coachwood and 1 x Rosewood. Unfortunately 3 of the Coachwood's did not survive the shipping and the one that did is terrific as is all the Red Cedars and the Rosewood. I suppose one cant help bad luck. The only issue I had was I requested that the plants be left at the side door on the verandah. Both (on separate occassions) were left smack bang in the middel of the front door. Overall I am happy to have made my purchase. I qualified my overall satisfaction score as my Shatoot Mulberry, purchased couple of months ago, has not sent out any new growth or changed in appearance. I removed the five berries it came with to promote root growth. I replanted into 25 litre tub temporarily as I have not yet decided permanent site. A brief tip about how to take care of plant would be helpful. A list about which plant is suitable for which area should be provided. I think you should explain for us which area in Australia is suitable for tropical and subtropical because you only gave us an Australia map to show which area is warm or cold. a couple fo the plants in my last order were of dubious quality which I havent experienced before. So, the cacao was in poor shape and defoliated shortly after arriva Its slowly coming back but suffered terribly. I hope it survives. The bottle trees were in large pots but when being transplanted, the soil fell away from the roots to reveal a young root system not mature enough for transplant. I hope they survive too! My only irritation is that I sometimes cannot get the stock when I want and have to wait. That is probably a result of your success and seasonal issues. The staff are really terrific and I can make no fault. The only other concern is whether there is much diversity in the genetic stock of the trees. Most of my fruit trees are coming from Daleys and sometimes I wonder whether generally there is a requirement for diversity of stock??? I am unsure about this? delivery charges are expensive especially when I have to go and collect from a place convenient for the courier. Some drivers will deliver to my address others won't. Their service and personal advice I have been given is A1. Having so many nurseries where I live, I prefer to wait for the plants that are not on stock than buy from other sources from my area. I would like some more details on the tree's , pest info , height and width of growth , best area to grow, soil needs, water needs, if they are fruit baring are the fruits able to be eaten by humans as well as birds ect , eg the blue tongue tree. If its a dwarf tree does the fruit baring or the taste change between full sized and the dwarf varieties ect. Also full sized pictures of the plants when they are grown so you can judge whether that plant works for your yard space. The only reason that I am rating quality at 4 rather than 5 is because the graft of my black shahtoot died (my last purchase). Actually I have been meaning to contact you to ask what is the rootstock as this is shooting. If it's a good mulberry I may keep it otherwise would like to try again with the grafted red shahtoot. The yellow tags attached almost got my poor grumichama and so advised dwarf peach debilitated in our recent Spring heat (now cool again). The yellow tags are admittedly useless without further research. My baby dwarf peach (listed as high chill) but suited for temperate has had a major haircut during the above (BOM advised) up down up down weather. I will and have been keeping all my 10 plus or so Daleys fruit within protected temperate like conditions. I know I have only purchased from Daleys a few times now, but I wish I had done sooner!! I plan to purchase all my fruit trees here from now on. The website is great. I love all the information provided about each variety, and I especially love the feedback from other gardeners at the bottom of each page. I can go through the My Edibles contributions for any particular plant, and find people from my area and have instant feedback on how something performs where I am, and what sort of things people are doing to grow. That cuts down hours of google time, let me tell you!! There is such value in that, and it helps me know what is worth my time to buy, and what I can do to get the best out of what I have. I really appreciate, too, that I can see what is happening with things that are not in stock at the moment- if something is in production or seeking propagation material. Other sites, if something is not in stock, I have no way of knowing if it ever will be, and if I am wasting my time checking back all the time. I love that everything is right there, and I can get an email notification when something becomes available. (I love and also dread that email- it's awesome, but sometimes I have already spent my gardening allowance for the month and I am kicking myself for not waiting a few days!! Lols) The availability information is so helpful, I cannot even say how helpful that is, I just love it. Everything that has come to me has been in brilliant condition, and I love that even in my horrible, half-concreted, shadeless hotbox of a rental backyard, things don't instantly droop and die. They are strong plants, well suited for Queensland conditions. It's one thing to grow a rare plant, it's another to grow something tough and super healthy like that, and I cannot stress enough how amazing I think you guys are for doing so. I know that anything that I purchase is coming to me in top notch condition, and has a fighting chance in my yard! Keep up the amazing work you guys are doing. It's hard enough to grow in the sub tropics as it is, but you make it that much easier to find things that will work well and really thrive. The very small orange tree seedling I purchased from you although generally looking healthy with new leaf growth had leaf curl in the top 3 leaves which I thought was very disappointing. If I was at the nursery physically I would never have chosen that pot. Also I was surprised how small the tube stock was I had expected a much taller plant as per purchases from other suppliers - I don't remember there being any indication on you site of the size. I really like the work that has been going on to recommend plants by area. Which I imagine will be developed and refined over time. I live 40km south of Mt Isa.I'm very happy with my plants, they coped really well with mailing and transplanting into the garden, and have thrived so far. My wife and i have been particularly impressed with the boxes that multiple trees are posted in, and the method of using the black plastic wrap around the pots while being transported, we have not had one failure with the plants from Daley's Trees, even when we thought we had lost the Pecan Nut, but it had been a little cool here, so soon as the weather warmed up a little, it was off like a startled Gazelle, now has leaves everywhere, maybe it likes Charlies Carp mixed with Dynamic Lifter Tea, and, Seasol. The whole lot of the trees we have from Daley's are doing very well, although we do not know what to feed the Pine nut with, maybe we could be given a list of Organic leaf and limb booster ideas from Daley's when the trees are posted, that would be my only wish.. Other than one part of my order getting mixed up the staff were great and even sent me a discount voucher to cover the mistake of the incorrect type of herb that had been sent I have since given the flat parsley to a friend who is loving it and she in turn got me the curly parsley that I love so all in all it was a win win situation out of an error The staff were fantastic and we're sorry that the mistake had happened, I was not upset over it at all, as I know sometimes mistakes can happen special when the seedlings are so young :-) In all the years I have been buying from Daleys this is the first only time that a mistake has happened with my order I will always keep going back to Daleys as they always have a great range of plants for my area and I know the plants are going to survive that first few weeks of the transplant from pot to bed :-) I love the quick turn around they have with not just the orders but also with any question that I have for them. One seedling had some leaf drop at the tip and isn't thriving, but the 7 others are doing great. Implications of seedlings (e.g. possibly unisexual, sterile etc.) vs cuttings could be better explained (I eventually found the information but not until I had mindlessly ordered seedlings). This feedback is in reference to the Nam Doc Mai i purchased. When i received it it had a white residue on it (like water had been sprinkled then white dust). It was quite yellow when i took it out of the box and it remained that way. After enquiring with Daley's i was told it would improve. It did not. I decided to try iron chelate, thinking the dust may have been lime causing chlorosis. It appears my hunch was right. after 3 doses of iron the leaves became dark green. I assume that this application of lime was an accident by apprentice staff (perhaps) and something to watch for in the future. Your site is pretty good (better than most), but it would be nice if I could easily add extra items to my order. I have one of those orders that will be coming in bulk sometime in Nov. When I get an alert on my phone that one of my watch plants is available, I can't simply add it to my existing order from my phone. I have to go to a computer and fumble my way through the process of editing my order. By that time the plant is sold out and I'm back to waiting. Also it would be generally better if more plants were in stock. Your store seems to be like a dream list of things that aren't available. It's worth waiting for, but for several years I avoided your site because everything I wanted was never in stock. I've heard others say the same thing. "I've never used them because they don't have anything in stock". Lots of info on website but hard to choose what is right for my location and needs, better filters/ search capacity would be good. Also needs to be easier to get back to a part completed order. Not a fan of the encrypted reply to queries option and need to have password and multiple steps to access and respond - a simple direct email and response would suffice. Also there was a mix up re what was ordered with some staff not knowing the actual situation re plant availability. Eventually I was able to return the incorrect plant, so all good. I'm thinking of a Black English Mulberry purchase I made a couple of months ago: There were two aspects that did not impress me and I was surprised that this would happen in a mature organization such as yourselves. 1/ I was asked to resolve the issue myself with one of your suppliers. I don't have any interest in your supply channel chain, I don't choose them you do and you must carry the can for any shortcomings or misunderstandings. 2/ I noticed even after you knew for sure that the Mulberries were not the Black English cultivar, you continued to advertise them as such. I was given a partial credit which I appreciated. Overall however my expectations were not exceeded. I would suggest that a business and supply chain is constructed so there are few customer concerns. When there is the odd concern cop a few in the neck yourself and exceed the customers expectation. There are many things you can do that don't cost you money but are of value to the customer. Have some sweeteners ready. Remember if its not the customer's fault then its yours. Good marketing is about looking after customers not using cop-outs. I have marked the "dealing with staff" down a bit. It may be caused by "bad policies" rather than any fault of the staff. It took 2 days to try and track the transport company in Mackay that were holding the trees that were purchased. We were quite happy to receive our babaco, however the plant arrived distressed, dropping halve its leaves within a week and dry terminal bud, the medium wasn't dry.I think it will recover in the greenhouse though. I collected from freight depot a day earlier than they were going to deliver, I wasn't convinced with their service,the box was damaged (we have photos) this is the only reason I can't recommend you to my friends. I was disappointed because I specifically asked whether the mandarin plant that I planned to order was grafted onto Trifoliata Root stock. I was told that it was on Trifoliata, but when it arrived, it was on Troyer root stock (according to the label anyway). Website is a little clunky. Plants have always come extremely well packed and in good order. My only comment would be in regard to reviewing the website functionality and usability. In particular, having items enter the cart while staying on the current page of items. The only fault we have is the delivery guy who delivers here in Hervey Bay Fastway....he is hopeless....most of the time he rings you then he asks you if you would like to pick up your item and then he will proceed to tell you that he will be at a certain point in his delivery and you go to where ever he is to get your product otherwise he delivers when he feels like it.....we have already complained but it falls on deaf ears.....as he is a private contractor....but your plants and service is impeccable..... Irene, River Heads, QLD (30th May 2016)

I understand that quality will always be an issue with plants having to survive transport. Several trees (persimmons) I bought years ago didn't survive, but that has not been such a problem more recently, except for a cacao (I suspect it was hit by the cooler weather here). All very good except website which is often really bad & hard work to try to find what I'm after. It would put many people off. Its too hard to find things too often. When we put a name of a plant (eg plum) into the search bar it should take us there but it doesnt 50% of the time, but instead takes us to a page that advertises plum plants at many fifferent websites, & then only if we think to scrollto the bottom of the page, it finally gives specific plum tree pages on your site, but if I put 'plum tree' in the search bar its because I want to get sent to a page on your website that gives me a list of all the plum trees you have available. Only half of the time it sends me to the right place & at least half the time it doesnt. Ive never struck this problem on any other website. I told you this over a year ago but the problem still remains. Please get someone there to put a general fruit tree type in the search bar & see where it takes you. Do this 20 times in a row with adifferent fruit tree type each time (not specific genus) & you will find the same problem happening numerous times. Please fix this. I ordered a male kiwi fruit. It looked magnificent on arrival. I planted it in a well-prepared site, and watered it every time i thought it would be necessary. A couple of times the fresh tips wilted a little in the middle of the afternoon. After a week, the whole plant had gone dull, and over the next 3 weeks it slowly died. I dont consider that i did anything wrong, but this can only be explained by my gardening non-prowess. I am not blaming anybody for anything, and do not expect anything. I am just sooking !. Have bought 2 shipments of Indian sandalwood in the recent past, with only 1 host plant (acacia, I guess) growing healthy with the sandalwood. The rest of the acacia wilted and died out. 2nd shipment was strange, not like the 1st since the host is potted in a differently from the sandalwood. All the host plant wilted / died but the sandalwood is struggling but growing and positively wishing that they will continue to grow alone without the host plant. Very soon I will be purchase a few more. So, it is the winter that hinders and killed the host? Or, I must have something wrong which I need advise from expert like you guys. The problem with "notify when available" is that I don't want to just order one plant, but, if I don't, I will usually miss out. I would like to be able to preorder plants that are unavailable and have the order held until they are available. OR I would like to buy plants when they become available, but have them held until I have ordered more plants that I want to get shipped together. Perhaps you could hold orders for a while (couple of weeks) for free then start charging storage, but the free period resets every time I add a new plant to the order? Your policy of offering plants that may or may not be useful to customers is not progressive. The plants offered may not fit into the climate region that customers live. The cost range of plants offered are from $15 down to $ 3 that speaks volumes of your flawed policy. In a free market customers must have the right to choose. I think the website could look and function a bit nicer. I wonder if some of the colours used and simple layout is for people with colour and vision impairments? A few things I notice is when you go in to a section the complete previous options are removed, so the new section doesn't just open up that category but removes the others so it seems to me a bit annoying to have to go back or home before I can change section. Maybe some A and B testing could be done to figure what your customers like more. I always think of using Daleys when I think of buying trees or vines, never had an issue. Re Overall Satisfaction: I was a little disappointed because one of the trees I bought (a pomegranate) had 10cm broken off the main stem. However this did not end up being a problem as I cut it off clean with secateurs and new shoots have grown back. In the customer feedback comments at the bottom of each tree/plants' description, it would be great to be able to see their location without needing to go to each customers' individual profile, so it's faster to gauge the likelihood of successfully growing a particular item in my area. And if a plant/tree is "in production", it'd be great to know an approximate time of year (if possible) that it will be ready. When I made my last order my plants must have been sent out late in the week because they sat at the couriers depot over the weekend. They ended up in transit for 5 days actually( I think. don't quote me on it) which isn't that good seeing as I live close by and one of my plants was very dried out by the time it got here....I'm nursing it along and it looks to be making a slow recovery. I guess that's more the couriers fault than your fault. Next time I will request for my plants to be sent out on Monday morning and that way they should arrive in better condition :) The best thing I like about Daleys is the variety.Unrivaled in Australia. General observation: Lots of plants of web site are out of stock! Maybe you should provide some indication of when likely to become available(months to sale) would good? If more than 12months delay then should remove listing as it makes it seem as if daleys winding down or your website no longer being used! PS my two purchased Achachas seemed like they had been in shipment for longer than the other plants? They seemed more impacted like they had been confined for longer (the way the foliage was impacted)? They are alive but havent started growing yet. I love your website and videos and green booklet it makes selecting and purchasing easy and your speed of delivery is amazing. I look at the videos every time I decide to purchase a plant. The only thing I could not find was the difference between pinkerton dwarf avocardo and the wurtz dwarf avocardo in taste for Harrington (mid north coast). So I am having difficulty deciding which one to get. it is a small backyard with limited space. I have often had difficulty navigating around your site and have put off purchases in the past because they were simply taking too long. In my experience, a buyer just wants to be able to select single (or multiple) products in a simple, straight forward operation - without distractions. It is good to have plenty of information available but only if it is sought after. Not sure if things have changed since I last purchased but the Customer Feedback sometimes got in the way of the purchasing process. I have ordered many fruit trees and plants from Daley's and I have yet to encounter anything negative. Every tree has arrived in brilliant condition, size and quality. All of the seedlings, cuttings and grafts have clearly been well maintained and nurtured by their ensemble of professionals; this is evident when receiving the plants. The same is to be said for the ordering process, packaging and pricing: easy, reasonable and hassle free. In the past, I have purchased plants online before and bought from local nurseries,yet Daley's still comes out on top (and they have to come all the way from Nth NSW in the post!). I couldn't recommend them more highly than I am right now. Just fantastic. So happy I discovered them. Might I mote that I say all this as someone who grows tropical plants in VIC too; so the health and quality of plants is absolutely crucial for me - if I receive a plant that is not in good quality, my chances of growing it by the time it arrives is basically nill. Daley's provide high quality and healthy plants every time. Even after a long trip in transit - and if they have suffered from the trip, they bounce back after a few days. The Cacao (my favorite plants to grow) is a perfect example: for such an exotic tropical and fragile tree, they turn up in a wonderful state and health. Finally, Cacao trees that I can rely on! Hi guys, I have purchased a lot of trees over the last 5 years but only bought 1 online, I've always enjoyed the drive to Daleys from southeast QLD as it only takes 1hr 50min. When I started buying from you, your in store variety was great and you had such a wide range of grafted trees and I usually came away with more than what I went for. On my last few visits however your range seems to have diminished greatly to the point that it's almost not worth coming. Sometimes I only decide to come down on the day and am not sure that you even have what I want in stock ,and you can no longer ring your number that is on my membership card to check it's availability. Recent purchase of an Avocado Reed ( Dwarf Grafted) and a Brazilian Custard Apple - Custard Apple Plant was in excellent condition albeit some of the beautiful leave's were half eaten by caterpillars. The Avocado Reed however was riddled with an infestation of Mealey Bugs, i mean literally every part of the avocado plant had these little white buggers on the plant. Having said that the Avocado plant was very healthy ( after spending a few days controlling the Mealey Bug infestation!) - i will still continue to shop with Daleys and would recommend to all my friends and family - keep up the great work and service guys. I bought 2 Pomello's,the planting area was prepared as per instructions.The Nam Roi came and I slit the plastic off and teased out the roots,no problems.The Carters Red came and I slit the plastic and the mix just fell off leaving bare roots.both were planted with Searles Citrus mix,Nam Roi has 150mm growth the Red has none as yet but is healthy.The two mixes were entirely different,perhaps a slip up.Both however have withstood 40c plus temperatures so fingers crossed H Kelly. Howard , Redbank Plains, QLD (9th Feb 2016)

My husband and I love south of Brisbane and have purchased fruit trees from Daleys quite frequently on-line. Recently we had a holiday in Northern New South Wales, so we decided to visit the nursery. It was well worth the visit. While most nurseries hold a small selection of fruit trees, and an even smaller selection of unusual plants, Daleys is an Aladin's cave for anyone who has an interest in growing orchards wroth a difference. To add to the experience, the lovely sales assistant directed us to visit a section of the garden where the fruit trees can be seen growing together in a glorious miniature rainforest. This gave us so many ideas as to how we might go about planting or trees in our home garden. I do have one piece of advise for anyone wanting to visit with a specific purchase in mind. ...pre-order. We had gone with the specific plan to buy the Florda Prince, early fruiting, low chill peach tree, only to find that they were out of stock when we got there.
