Apple problems

    2 responses

Linda starts with ...
I have Pink Lady and Granny Smith trees.
I live in the Maroota area
I have attached some photos of the fruit so hopefully someone can help me.

I have always had a proportion of my fruit not being edible but the most this recent season I did not get any usable fruit off my trees.
Looking on the internet it IS hard to diagnose the cause of the problem !

I had always thought that I had an a "Apple Dimpling " bug problem because the apples had dimples (!) and concentrated my efforts towards that, but now I am not so sure...
The apples have numerous depressions in the surface and underneath the divots in the fruit there was a small, bad tasting, bitter light brown 'corky' area /streak. I've rarely seen an insect IN the fruit.

Thanks @QRcode. I did not want to post preconceived ideas but..... I 'gave in' and sprayed with mavrik against dimpling bug and this year was the worst of the lot - fits in with bitter pit. Friend had probs and showed her pics to apple grower in Vic (thru her hubby) and he said same. The agronomist from AceOhlsson said dimpling ...Argh
