Avacado problem

    1 responses

Lesterz starts with ...
I have Fuerte avacado which has been in the ground for about 12 months but it has never taken off.
It has very few tiny leaves, one of the side shoots has gone black right back to the trunk and at ground level the bark has gone black for about 13 cm and that is half way around the trunk. As can be seen in one photo, it is clean green below the black bark.
Could this be caused by Anthracnose?
Please help as this is the third avo we have lost in the last few years.

Hi Lesterz ,

Most of young avocado plants growth slows down or stops, problem from root system. I suggest to dig up the plant check the root ball and soil.
1. soil PH between 5.5 to 6.5
2. sandy loam soil with high organic mix, well-aerated and loose soil, moist but not wet.
4. raise up the bedding to avoid the waterlogged
5. Cover the plant 2-3 years with 30-50% shade to avoid sun burn. Cheers
