Avocado tree dead branches and brown leaves

MaggieIsle starts with ... I have three avocado trees in my chook pen. Two are doing well, but the third has big brown dry patches on some leaves and whole branches appear dead. When we cut one off we noticed the inside looks like a brown fungus. What is this and how do we treat it? It gets water from laundry/shower and is planted in decomposed granite - very well drained. Marmot1 says... You'd better find some vaseline, cut the dead part until the living part, apply some vaseline to the wound, then it's okay.
