Bappy starts with ... We have wattlebirds going over the flowers in the blueberries. Last year I thought they were actually eating them, so I covered the bushes with netting. But now I'm wondering if they're just looking for insects. A few flowers end up on the ground, but it's hard to say if any are going missing. Any ideas? | About the Author Bappy Sutherland NSW 6th August 2018 9:41am #UserID: 18786 Posts: 2 View All Bappy's Edible Fruit Trees |

David01 says... Hi Bappy, Pollination usually done by bees or small insects but not by birds. If you found birds gather nectar and eating insects but not damaging the flowers then no need to net the plant now. However, you will need to put the net back when fruits are ready to harvest unless you want them to share with you (all birds love to eat Blueberries).
