black sapote

Hayden starts with ...
Hi everyone. I purchaced my black sapote from whyee nursery recently and i was very happy with it. It was a big tree seems healthy and was only $30. (They have a few left for anyone interested). I have put it in a pot and i wanted to know about its sun requirments. At the moment I have it on the front patio and it gets morning sun i also give it alot of water as i read this will help it grow. Am i giving it the right sun and water. And will a bit of horse poo help it. Thanks

Yes you're on the right track Hayden. I bought two of the same batch they have there around 18 months ago. Both are flowering profusely ATM.
Give them as much sun as you can. On really hot days, keep the water up otherwise the leaves will burn. I'm talking with personal experience here, and mine are both in the ground.
Did you add some coarse river sand to your potting mix? You have to be careful with your watering otherwise. I know they like a lot of water, but I haven't had experience with them sitting in water such as in a pot of ordinary potting mix. The sand will help with drainage and minimise the perched water table in the pot.
Did you see the advanced Rollinias there as well? They've got some good stuff there ATM.
