brazilian cherry roots.

Just wondering if anyone knows how invasive the roots are of Brazlian cherries allowed to grow in full sun in the tropics?

I am looking to plant a line of these trees along our property boundary which has a council concrete storm drain running along the boundary.

Is it okay to plant the trees 1.5m away from the edge of the concrete drain? or will the roots of a braz cherry end up causing problems some time in the future?

What distance would you folks recommend? I am trying to get as close as possible without having roots interfere with the concrete.

Someone local said the roots are no problem and I could plant as close as 1m to the culvert edge if I wanted, but I thought I would get more opinions.

Its an acreage so I will be spending a bit of money on the plants and dont want to re-transplant them if I get different information.

Thanks for any replies.

Hi, they are a large shrub so as a general rule keep to a size reflective of their crown. So you would want to be a minimum of at least 1.5m I don't think they would be very invasive as they don't bolt out of their pots here in the nursery, but its best to talk to your local council and ask if they have had any reports of problems. Concrete cracking is something you don't want.
