Emerald Island starts with ... Hi, we are looking for someone with a prolific Calamondin/round Cumquat tree. This is often called a Kumquat but unlike your run of the mill Kumquat/Cumquat, the fruit is not oval but round. If you have a tree growing, or know of anyone with one who can provide us with the fruit, we would be very happy. We are a little distillery in Emerald Beach and simply love distilling the Calamondin fruit (& have exhausted our tree and that of our lovely neighbours). Cheers Viv

jakfruit etiquette says... Hi, Calamondins have sweet edible peel and sourish mandarin type pulp. Fortunella Kumquats have sweet edible peel and sweet flesh / pulp. There are 2 main Fortunella Kumquats in Australia. The oval Nagami and the round Meiwa. I did buy kilos of Meiwa Kumquats from the Adelaide Central Markets some years back. These folks are growing them in Renmark SA. I dont know them, as the person who used to grow them retired I think. http://www.thekumquatery.com.au/about_the_kumquatery.php | About the Author jakfruit etiquette gotham city,3000,Vic 12th September 2020 9:27pm #UserID: 5133 Posts: 915 View All jakfruit etiquette's Edible Fruit Trees |
