Cashew in Melbourne?

Has anybody tried growing cashews in Melbourne? I saw someone from Echuca, VIC comment on the Cashew page, this made me wonder whether it is possible.

Considered a tropical tree , though I know it is growing in a frost free sub-tropical area . NO WAY would it grow in NSW or VIC imho
