I would like to know when your grafted Chempedak trees will be ready and what are they grafted onto. Have tried many seedlings but have found they grow initially from seed ok them fail once you try to grow them on to a larger size.

A. Integer is as ultra tropical as purple mangosteen, and there is absolutely no chance that you will be able to successfully grow one, let alone get it to produce, in springwood. It's something for the true wet tropics only. A grafted variety will unfortunately end up the same as the seedlings you've tried. You would be much better served by a jackfruit--which is a much better fruit than chempedak, which is not regarded as an upper tier Artocarpus even in Asia where the genus is extremely popular.

For me (and the rest of the bangkokians) chempedak is a vile fruit.

In south Thailand they like it though.

The smell they produce really turns my stomach in a knot, really awfull.

Sometimes on a market i smell them and immediatly feel the same in my stomach.

Jackfruit is far far better imo.

Mike i wrote that to warn people that they are not that good as some folks write on the web. I made the same mistake myself, glad my chempedak tree has died.

In Bangkok they call them champadaa and nobody here likes them, that's why they are hard to find i guess.

I've never seen them in Malaysia but soon i 'll be there again and will try to find them. But if they have the same smell i will stay far away from them.
