cherry trees

I live on the mid north coast and have a 2 year old lapin cherry. I thought it had dropped most of its leaves for the upcoming winter. Of late we have had very warm weather and I now find the lapin cherry sprouting a lot of new growth. Is this normal for mid autumn
Many Thanks
David

Hi Forster D

It's not unusual for deciduous trees to resprout unseasonably because of unexpected warm weather during the cooler months. The new leaves might go brown and die again during winter or they might not. Your tree will get it's bearing right once the seasonal weather starts to normalize and settle down. It should not affect the health of your tree that much.

Happy gardening :-)
