David starts with ... I am looking for someone in Melbourne to share the cost to purchase the Grafted Cherimoya (Bays) and Custard Apple (African pride). As the nursery (in Sydney) only sell (to the dealer) at the min qty 20. The total cost of 20 trees are $400 plus transport to Melbourne $180 (by truck). Which is $29 per tree. The trees will be available in Mar 2018 but the order needs to be confirmed by Nov-Dec 2017. Please contact me if anyone interest to share the buy as I can only afford 4 trees. You can find more info from http://www.treegrowers.com.au Thanks/David | About the Author David01 Melbourne 13th October 2017 9:47am #UserID: 16671 Posts: 467 View All David01's Edible Fruit Trees |
allybanana says... Hi David I tried that a few years ago, I can not post my experience as Daley's will not let me place negative comments about other companies on their website. However I am very much interested in Bays Cherimoya. I live in Eden so best if I can help pay for a tree and just send me some scions to graft. | About the Author allybanana EDEN, NSW 13th October 2017 9:11pm #UserID: 4544 Posts: 372 View All allybanana's Edible Fruit Trees |

Markmelb says... I found a taste test for you to check - Bays, FDJ & Pierce which isnt in Australia i think https://www.marinhomestead.com/recipes/cherimoya-review-bays-pierce-and-fino-de-jete/ | About the Author Markmelb MOUNT WAVERLEY,3149,VIC 17th October 2017 10:41am #UserID: 7785 Posts: 1192 View All Markmelb's Edible Fruit Trees |
David says... Hi Markmelb. Yes, I also looked at that report a while ago but friend of mine in San Jose said Bays tastes quite good, it is better than others (don't forget this report is based on one person view). Also, the best variety may not produce a good taste if it does not grow in its ideal environment. I agreed FDJ may be the best but it is not available at the moment. However, I am looking for different Cherimoyas varieties including Bays. Do you know where I can get FDJ, Sofia etc?. Thanks Kind regards, David | About the Author David01 Melbourne 18th October 2017 10:59am #UserID: 16671 Posts: 467 View All David01's Edible Fruit Trees |
