Drats. I've scoured the web & can't find any definitive answer to this one.... aNON, do you know if the roots will sneak through retaining walls or into drains?

Our oldest one is just about five years old now, and it's been our experience that the roots are shallow but spread far. A lot of the big roots ride the surface, and I've heard that's a common trait of rain forest species. Although all of ours are still young, I don't foresee that their roots will go deep enough to get into the pipes, but I think they might mess up a sidewalk or driveway or could push a retaining wall.

Thanks Tom, great advice. I'll move the little platns to the perfect place today. We are busting to see the full-grown tree in fruit.
