Today I was given a 'doughnut peach' to try. Shaped just like the real thing
( the one without the hole ) & about the same size, but it was definately a peach in taste, delicious & being that shape very easy to eat! I was informed that they are grown locally so has anyone come across them?

Yes. I grow the low chill version. They sell them in Bunnings. I usually only see them in the shops here once a year, so I stock up. They are often in the specialty fruit stores though, but the $20/kg price tag puts me off, and makes the hassle of growing a peach up here worth it...

I also saw these in the local fruit shop. The price put me off too but I bought a couple as they looked remarkably similar to the old variety Chinese/China Flat. I have one of these trees in my yard, I bought it about 25 years ago...it seems that they've made a come back as a "fashionable fruit". Very clever marketing by somebody out there.....the trees are selling for anywhere between $25-$60 each and the fruit for $10-$20 per kilo!! I should set up a roadside stall.... :-)
