My 3-year old dwarf mulberry has developed splits in its bark (see picture). Is this normal or some sort of disease? Should I treat it &, if so, how?

Hi JohnR,

It could be a disease or due to large temperature changes between day and night in winter can freeze the water within the trunk causing it to explode or split open, or if there is a big fluctuation between dry season and wet season etc. If I was you I just cleaning the edges of the wound, remove any sign of infection then paint over with water base paint to seal the wound. Cheers.
