Failed snake wrassle

Found this guy in the shed today. A little to big to have hanging around, usually if they are a meter or so I take the live and let live policy, when they're up around 3-4m like this girl, they go for a trip. Well, usually they do, but not today. Snake 1, me 0. Very aggressive, generally I find the bigger they are the less snappy they are--maybe the big ones think they have less to fear, who knows. Second picture is a few moments before a lightning jab which nearly clocked me on the chin, I put down the iphone after that. Couldn't find my usual 'hook' apparatus, was trying to use the handle of a mop lol usually they will simply coil around whatever is put in front of them, and this makes them easier to bag. Anyway she got the better of me today, was getting pretty pissed off, and I didn't want here to cut herself on the sharp edges of the tin so I gave up. It might move on after being disturbed for a few days, anyway.

Carpets don't usually crack the 3m mark but they can be snappy.I bet that one has caused disruption in the shed's rat community.

Yeah, they are really beneficial to have around.I think the rats might be on to it though, they have immigrated to my garden. I recently lifted up a bit of sheeting and found a rat under there sitting next to a hoarded pile of empty macadamia shells. It was kinda looking at me like 'ok, what now? lol. Possums tend to vamoose when the carpets hang around too which works for me.

This one was too big though, two small dogs are on the property and neighbor has chickens. They don't always fit them down, but they always try.

I'm ok with the carpets, but if its a brown I'm running so fast I leave a trail of smoke. We get those little whip snakes too, with the yellow markings. They seem peaceful enough, can be hard to tell apart from tree snakes sometimes. I have never seen the other kind which is supposed to live in the brisbane surrounds, the spotted one.
