Tommoz says... Christian de Kezel told me the pollen is viable of course but I seem to recall that chinensis type Hongyang is very early, there might not be overlap depending on the climate and what deliciosa male you have (Tomuri, Matui, Bruno male). But in hindsight most people shouldn't have a problem. | About the Author Tommoz Dural 23rd July 2014 2:58pm #UserID: 7219 Posts: 340 View All Tommoz's Edible Fruit Trees |

allybanana says... I agree. I have a green male and female, sweetie flowered way before both of them. Unfortunately my low chill sweetie male from Daleys also started flowering a few weeks after all flowering had finished on both Sweetie and Waynes. It may be that my low chill male is young and not flowering early yet has any one else noticed this problem? Interestingly sweetie still has a small amount of fruit on the vine perhaps it is has some self compatibility. Waynes has no fruit this is its second year flowering the vine is large and healthy. I would be very interested if anyone has a low chill kiwi male that synchronizes well with Sweetie and Wayne's. Happy to buy or swap a range of botanical treasures for Scion wood. | About the Author allybanana EDEN, NSW 10th November 2015 7:13am #UserID: 4544 Posts: 372 View All allybanana's Edible Fruit Trees |

allybanana says... Thanks Linda that is positive, hopefully next year will be better for my sweetie male. My male sweetie should be the same as yours in which case I wont need wood to graft, but thanks for the offer. By the way does your sweetie male have much more hairy stems than your female sweetie and are the leaves more pointed. | About the Author allybanana EDEN, NSW 11th November 2015 9:38am #UserID: 4544 Posts: 372 View All allybanana's Edible Fruit Trees |
IanAlmond says... Well this sounds like my problem. I planted a sweetie female and a general male (deliciosa) about 6 years ago. After a couple of failures I think I'm on my third male. They both flowered last year (2020), I think for the first time but didn't really overlap. I found one old fruit when pruning in winter. I'm on the waiting list with Daley's for a male sweetie. Right now (23/9/22) the female is covered in open flowers but there is no sign of growth on the male yet. I think the long term is to get the male sweetie but I wondered if I could do some manual pollinating now if I could get male flowers/pollen from somewhere. I am in Wollongong. | About the Author IanAlmond MOUNT KEMBLA,2526,NSW 23rd September 2021 5:33pm #UserID: 22946 Posts: 3 View All IanAlmond's Edible Fruit Trees |
