tr says... Sal , I have heard that DPI in Nambour have been breeding Custard Apples and got some red ones . With a view for the Asian market , as red is a lucky colour and would demand a premium price . BUT I was told that they would only be available to commercial growers . SO it may be a Pandanus fruit .. was it soft ? did it smell funny ? did you try to eat some ? can I come and taste it ????? I will be coming to Mareeba soon to get palms from local nursery . | About the Author peter12 13th April 2009 6:57pm #UserID: 1019 Posts: 38 View All peter12's Edible Fruit Trees |
Sal Schinkel says... The pictures were taken in a very old garden in Harare Zimbabwe Africa. The adults were sitting around the barbi & one of the children brought the red one & asked what it was, no-one knew so the lady who took the photos said she would put it on face book when she got back home. Home is in England & the owner of the garden is away at the moment. Do you think the red one could be the seed pod of some type of palm or cactus? I think we have established that the green one is a custard apple. | About the Author Mareeba 14th April 2009 10:17am #UserID: 0 Posts: View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |
