Fruit tree pruning

They now recommend pruning stonefruit trees to aprox 2 metres
The following season all i get is a growth surge and no,fruit
Any ideas cheers

The two types are nectarine and plum
And are aprox 5 years old

You forgot to mention what kind of stone fruit tree you have and the age of the tree(s). Not all stone fruits are treated the same when it comes to pruning and also the age of the tree should also be considered

May be next time try to be specific which stone fruit cultivar you are referring to for easier troubleshooting.
