Maria starts with ... Ideally I would like to plant a fruit tree hedge along my fence lines in the backyard however I don't know what my options are re varieties or indeed if it is possible. I live on the Central Coast (above Sydney), backing on to a lake, so my soil is sandy (and I imagine, salty) and we have a LOT of wind. I would also have to plant dwarf varieties - lest one of the neighbours kill me for ruining their view! Any ideas, or is it just a dream?! | About the Author Maria9 Central Coast NSW 11th January 2012 12:39am #UserID: 6379 Posts: 1 View All Maria9's Edible Fruit Trees |
MaryT says... Of course it is possible - I suggest walking around your neighbourhood to see what sort of fruit trees are growing well in your area, but I don't think you can go wrong with lemons or olives; that's what I see growing along the coast of Italy and they've been doing it for decades or even centuries. Once I sat under an apricot tree and ate its sun baked fruits while looking out to sea (sigh), though its owner said it only fruits well every second year. | About the Author MaryT Sydney 11th January 2012 8:17am #UserID: 5412 Posts: 2066 View All MaryT's Edible Fruit Trees |
