GROWING EXOTIC FRUIT TREES

    1 responses

BT1968 starts with ...
G'day, I live on the Sunshine Coast. I'd like to grow exotic fruit trees like Durian ... Mangosteen ... Rambutan ... Langsat ...

What kinds of soils and environment are required for them to grow and bear fruit?

I am totally green and have no knowledge or experience with gardening or growing!

Thanks
Ben

Hi Ben

The fruit trees you are suggesting to grow are very tropical species. They can only grow to FNQ to Darwin unless you are planning to install a greenhouse.

Temperature 5C and below will almost certainly annihilate those cold sensitive fruit trees. Speak to your nursery person closest to your district for alternative sub tropical trees suited to your local climate.

Happy gardening :-)
